Lake Prespa Monument of Nature – 17,789 ha – IUCN Category III & Ezerani Nature Park – 1,917 ha – IUCN Category IV

The two protected areas are managed by the Municipality of Resen in North Macedonia, and both are included in the Ohrid-Prespa Transboundary Biosphere Reserve and the transboundary Prespa Park.

The ongoing 3-year grant enables Resen Municipality to further develop technical human capacity for protected area management and environmental monitoring. With support from the Hydrobiological Institute Ohrid, new staff is being trained to make the Lake Prespa Monitoring Station in Stenje fully operational and capable of conducting basic environmental monitoring independently. The grant also extends the current support to hire additional rangers and seasonal workers recruited from among the local communities to assist with maintaining the visitor infrastructure in Ezerani Nature Park.

Status: Open.
