The Albanian Alps National Park in Albania is located at the borders of Montenegro and Kosovo. The rugged high mountains are internationally recognised for their natural beauty. The surface of the park reaches 82,844.65 ha (39,010.3 ha in the administrative territory of the Kukes region and 43,834.35 ha in the administrative territory of the Shkodra region).
The ongoing one-year grant from PONT supports the National Agency of Protected Areas and the Regional Administrations for Protected Areas of Kukes and Shkodra in developing and maintaining the key functional areas of their work in the park: operation planning, conservation actions, protection/law enforcement, and visitor infrastructure management.
