Albanian Alps – 82,845 ha – IUCN category II

The Albanian Alps National Park in Albania is located at the borders of Montenegro and Kosovo. The rugged high mountains are internationally recognised for their natural beauty. The surface of the park reaches 82,844.65 ha (39,010.3 ha in the administrative territory of the Kukes region and 43,834.35 ha in the administrative territory of the Shkodra region).

The grant from PONT supports the work of NAPA and RAPA Kukes and Shkodra in key functional areas of management of the park: operation planning, conservation actions, protection/law enforcement, and visitor infrastructure management.
