Together with representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, PONT visited the Shar Mountain National Park and Mavrovo National Park in North Macedonia on the 11th and 12th of April.
The aim of the visit was to get to know the status quo, opportunities and challenges of both parks alongside assessing their “PONT” readiness to receive future grants. Both national parks form part of the Korab-Shara Transboundary Conservation Area which was included in the PONT focus region late 2021. Under the guidance of the Public Institutions responsible for the management of the parks, several sites were visited where exchanges with local people and representatives of the municipalities took place. The joint visit created the basis for a future long-term partnership.
