Now in its fifth year, the collaboration between Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust and National Agency Protected Areas has blossomed into a remarkable success story, driven by the dedicated efforts of Regional Administrators of Protected Areas (RAPAs) across Korçë, Elbasan, Dibër, Kukës, and Shkodër. Their collective focus on enhancing the implementation of management plans and fostering inter-regional collaboration, particularly for vital bio corridors, is yielding tangible results.
An important moment occurred last year with the METT Assessment, a crucial tool in evaluating conservation effectiveness. This assessment, typically a lengthy process, was streamlined into a remarkably efficient two-day event. This achievement not only expedited decision-making but also significantly broadened stakeholder representation and participation. By ensuring diverse voices were heard and integrated into strategic planning, the collaboration deepened its impact and strengthened local ownership of conservation initiatives.
Through proactive engagement and synergistic efforts, PONT and NAPA are collectively working to achieve the common goal of conserving Albania’s rich biodiversity. The success story of this established partnership serves as a beacon of hope and a model for effective cross-sector collaboration in sustainable conservation practices.
