Spiro joined PONT RPO as a Grant Coordinator in February 2024.
Previously, Spiro served as a Project Coordinator for a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project, where he played a pivotal role in implementing coordinated mechanisms for referrals of domestic violence. The mechanism, composed of a team of community professionals, aimed to protect and support survivors of violence. Additionally, he also contributed significantly as a Procurement and Finance Officer at the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Prespa project, a collaborative initiative between the KFW Development Bank and the Albanian Government. The initiative focused on conserving biological diversity, reducing pressure on natural resources, and improving the living conditions of local communities in the Prespa National Park and Ohrid-Prespa Transboundary Biosphere Reserve.
In addition to his professional roles, he has served as a member of the Prespa municipality council, addressing some of the day-to-day challenges the region faces. During his tenure, Spiro actively contributed to the municipality’s efforts to make the Prespa region a better and healthier place to live, leveraging his knowledge and understanding of local issues to drive positive change.
Spiro holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, providing him with a solid foundation to address complex conservation and community development challenges. Growing up in the Prespa-Ohrid region has given him a deep understanding of the area’s problems and challenges, motivating him to make a meaningful contribution to nature conservation, reduce pressure on the natural heritage, and improve the living conditions of local residents.
Spiro’s background, expertise, and personal connection to the region position him well to make a significant impact at PONT, contributing to the organisation’s goals of conservation and sustainable development.
