We are pleased to announce the successful NGOs in Albania from our first call for grant proposals launched back in March 2022. The applicants in Albania were local NGOs based in Korab-Shara and Albanian Alps areas involved in conservation, developing society, improving communities, and promoting citizen participation in conservation.
PONT’s Environmental Actors programme aims at complementing and supporting the conservation work carried out by the Protected Area Management Authorities, as well as at facilitating stakeholder and community involvement in protected area governance and management.
After reviewing and evaluating the submitted applications, the following grantees were selected:
- World Vision Albania, Dibra Branch – 12-months full grant;
- Environmental Protection and Tourism Development, Kukes – 12-months full grant;
- GO2, Shkodra – 16-months full grant;
- Aarhus Information Centre – 18-months full grant
These complement the agreements with the two non-governmental organizations active in the Shar Mountain National Park of North Macedonia, signed on the 27th May 2022.
PONT Executive Director Mirjam de Koning takes this opportunity to thank all the NGOs that applied for our first call for grant proposals. She greatly appreciates their contribution to the respective area and more specifically the PONT focus region in nature conservation and community involvement.
We hope to receive the same interest and endeavors in future calls from local NGOs that are involved in environmental conservation and willing to contribute to biodiversity in Korab-Shara and Albanian Alps area.
