Meeting by boat in the middle of Lake Prespa marked the start of the 10-year PrespaNet celebration. It is already 10 years since the Society for the Protection of Prespa (SPP) in Greece, the Protection and Preservation of Natural Resources Albania (PPNEA) and the Macedonia Ecological Society (MES) formed the transboundary NGO network PrespaNet.
The international support by many actors such as PONT was acknowledged during the celebration in the local PPNEA office in Gorice e Vogel. Transboundary success stories were highlighted by the Mayors of the Prespa Municipality in Greece and the Pustec Municipality in Albania. “The local partners gathered in Prespa today have made transboundary cooperation functional. They have joined forces for essential conservation actions, environmental education events such as the transboundary summer schools, and the support of the local communities through their local offices” stated Mirjam de Koning. PONT would like to congratulate all local partners and stakeholders for this great achievement.
